From Research to Innovation with Olivier Georgeon at the Deep Funding Town Hall

We are delighted to welcome Olivier Georgeon to our upcoming Deep Funding Town Hall on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at 6 p.m. UTC.

Olivier is an Associate Professor at the Catholic University of Lyon (UCLy) in France and the founder of PetiteIA, a company dedicated to designing robots that exhibit lifelike behaviors. His journey through both academia and industry has given him a unique perspective on AI and how technology can mirror human-like interaction.

After graduating with a Master of Engineering from Ecole Centrale Marseille in 1988, Olivier worked as a software engineer before earning a PhD in Cognitive Science from the University of Lyon. His career has included a postdoctoral fellowship at Penn State University with Professor Frank Ritter, as well as a research fellowship from the French National Research Agency (ANR) to study developmental AI.

In 2023, Olivier founded PetiteIA, combining his deep research background with an entrepreneurial drive to push the boundaries of robotics and AI.

As one of the winners of the current RFP, Olivier will present his project, “Interactional Motivation.” His talk will explore new approaches to AI that embrace creativity, motivation, and lifelike behaviors, offering fresh insights into how technology can evolve to interact more naturally with humans.
