Summary

This session focused on presenting and discussing the 2025 payments and task analysis dashboard, highlighting how Deep Funding evolved operationally from the first half (H1) to the second half (H2) of the year.

A key insight is that overall spending growth in H2 was driven by increased participation and workload, not inflated pay rates. The number of paid contributors rose (72 → 84), alongside higher average hours per contributor, resulting in a more active and productive ecosystem. Importantly, while H1 payments were volatile—largely due to backlog payouts—H2 demonstrated greater financial stability and discipline, with more predictable monthly spending patterns.

The nature of work also shifted significantly. H1 was dominated by alignment-heavy activities such as meetings, reviews, and coordination, reflecting a planning phase. In contrast, H2 transitioned into a delivery-focused phase, with substantial growth in development and testing activities. This indicates a maturation of the ecosystem from discussion and structure-building to execution and product development.

From a distribution perspective, contributor earnings became more balanced in H2. The median payout increased significantly, showing that more participants moved into meaningful earning levels, rather than value concentrating among a few top earners. This reflects improved inclusivity and healthier participation across the community.

Key forward-looking priorities emerged from the discussion:

  • Linking payments and hours to actual outcomes and impact, not just outputs
  • Improving tracking systems to connect effort → delivery → results
  • Enhancing data categorization and transparency for clearer analysis
  • Maintaining a balance between accountability and avoiding excessive bureaucracy

Overall, the analysis shows a system that is scaling in both size and maturity, transitioning toward a more structured, outcome-driven, and execution-oriented ecosystem.
