I am writing to express my strong interest in joining the Deep Funding Review Circle. I am passionate about the potential of AI, particularly Artificial General Intelligence (AGI), to address real-world challenges, especially within my community and across Africa. I am drawn to Deep Funding\'s mission of supporting the development of beneficial AGI, and I believe my experience in proposal review, coupled with my growing understanding of AI, makes me a valuable candidate for this role. My most relevant experience comes from my active participation in Project Catalyst since Fund 9. I have served as a proposer, community reviewer, and moderator, giving me a comprehensive understanding of the proposal review process. I have reviewed over 500 plus proposals across various funding rounds, providing detailed feedback on areas like technical feasibility, impact on the Cardano ecosystem, budget justification, and team expertise. My experience as a moderator for project Catalyst community has honed my ability to facilitate constructive discussions and ensure fair evaluation, often mediating between differing viewpoints and guiding discussions towards consensus. While Project Catalyst focuses on blockchain projects, the core skills of proposal assessment, critical thinking, and identifying potential risks and rewards are directly transferable to evaluating AGI-focused projects. Specifically, the process of assessing the feasibility of a complex technical proposal, evaluating the potential impact of a project on a community, and judging the competence of a team are directly applicable to Deep Funding\'s review process. I am actively expanding my knowledge of AGI. I understand that AGI refers to a hypothetical AI system with human-level cognitive abilities, including reasoning, problem-solving, and learning across diverse domains. I am particularly interested in the ethical considerations surrounding AGI development, especially ensuring alignment with human values and preventing unintended consequences. I am also following research on different AGI architectures, including hybrid approaches combining symbolic and connectionist AI. My exploration of AI includes completing online courses on AI Career Essentials with ALX and am looking forward to machine learning through Coursera .I have attended a seminar on machine learning and artificial intelligence and I recognize the importance of key challenges in AGI development like safety, alignment, and explainability, and I am eager to learn more about the cutting-edge research being supported by Deep Funding. My ambition is to use AI to create positive change in my community and beyond. I believe Deep Funding\'s commitment to supporting beneficial AGI is crucial for realizing this vision. I am particularly impressed by Deep Funding\'s rigorous review process and their emphasis on funding projects that prioritize ethical considerations in AGI development. I am also drawn to their focus on fostering collaboration within the AGI community. I am confident that my experience in proposal review, combined with my dedication to learning about AGI, would make me a valuable contributor to the Deep Funding Review Circle.
Ideal Role
My ideal role in Deep Funding would be one where I can directly contribute to maximizing the impact of the funding we deploy. This could involve a combination of both strategic analysis ,portfolio management and impact measurement. * Strategic Analysis: Identifying promising projects and areas where Deep Funding can make a significant difference. This might involve market research, competitive analysis, and understanding emerging trends. * Portfolio Management: Working with funded projects to provide guidance and support, helping them achieve their milestones and maximize their potential. This could involve mentorship, connecting them with resources, and tracking their progress. * Impact Measurement: Developing and implementing frameworks to assess the effectiveness of Deep Funding\'s investments, ensuring accountability and demonstrating the value we create.
Program Improvement Suggestions
If I had full agency and sufficient resources,the first thing I would love to improve is to provide detailed feedback reports to projects that are rejected or not successful.I believe this will help them to work on areas on improvement and work on submitting amazing projects in the next funding round.Again I would love the idea of creating mentorship programs to unsuccessful projects and connecting them to experts who can help them to refine their projects and provide technical assistance to proposers.This will go a long way to impact the contribution of projects to deep funding.
