DEEP Open All Hands

Summary

This All Hands session centered on strategic alignment and a major structural shift within Deep Funding, now transitioning into Deep Projects, signaling a move from an open, idea-driven model to a more goal-oriented and execution-focused system.

The core transformation is the shift from hourly-based work to a project-based model, where activities are defined, budgeted, and evaluated based on clear outcomes. This change is designed to improve accountability, efficiency, and impact tracking, while reducing time spent on non-core activities such as excessive meetings and coordination. Projects will now be aligned more directly with ecosystem priorities, particularly those defined by SingularityNET, which will play a central role in approving and funding initiatives.

Two primary pathways for work were introduced:

  • Top-down projects, initiated by SingularityNET and aligned with strategic needs
  • Bottom-up projects, proposed by community members but still subject to approval based on relevance and value

Organizationally, the system is evolving from multiple functional circles into a more unified partner-based structure, where contributors are grouped dynamically and engaged per project rather than through fixed roles. This enables more flexible collaboration, cross-functional teamwork, and talent matching based on project needs.

The transition also introduces new opportunities, including an affiliate/referral program for onboarding external partners, and a broader vision of Deep as a platform serving multiple partners beyond SingularityNET.

While the transition will involve some uncertainty and friction, it is positioned as a necessary evolution toward a more scalable, outcome-driven, and fair ecosystem, where contributors have greater ownership, clearer expectations, and improved reward alignment based on delivered value.
