Deep Funding in 2025
As 2025 comes to a close, we’re taking a moment to reflect on a year that shaped Deep Funding into something stronger, clearer, and more connected than ever before.
Deep Funding (DF) was created to support decentralized, beneficial AI through community-driven funding, open ideation, and builder-first incentives. In 2025, that vision moved from intention to execution. Across funding rounds, ideation challenges, hackathons, town halls, X Spaces, and partnerships, the Deep Funding ecosystem grew and not just in numbers, but in trust, participation, and real output.
This blog brings everything together in one place: the milestones, the moments, the people, and the proof.

These numbers matter but what matters more is how they happened: through milestone-based grants, open review, and a community that shows up consistently.
Throughout 2025, Deep Funding continued to refine its core funding model:
Builders were supported from early experimentation through to working prototypes — without pressure to give up ownership or rush outcomes.

Strengthening the pipeline: ideation before proposals
One of the most important shifts in 2025 was giving ideas space to grow.
Instead of forcing early concepts into full proposals, DF invested in structured ideation — letting the community help shape what should be built next.

This approach reinforced a core belief: strong projects start with strong ideas, not rushed paperwork.

If 2025 had a heartbeat, it was consistency.
By December, DF reached Town Hall #76, a bi-weekly rhythm that became a reliable space for:
Town Halls helped keep DF transparent and grounded, ensuring decisions were visible and feedback flowed both ways.
All-Hands sessions created space to zoom out:
Together, Town Halls and All-Hands turned “community” from a label into a practice.
In 2025, Deep Funding’s community didn’t just grow; it organized itself.
Community Hubs became active spaces where builders, creators, researchers, and organizers could gather around shared interests, regions, and missions. These hubs turned the broader DF ecosystem into something more personal and more local, while staying connected to a global network.
Across the year, Community Hubs hosted conversations, meetups, challenges, and learning sessions that helped members move from curiosity to collaboration.
By the end of 2025, the Community Hubs ecosystem included:
Some of the most active hubs included:
Beyond metrics, the real impact of Community Hubs was connection.
They created space for people to:
Community Hubs also made participation more accessible. Instead of needing to jump straight into funding or governance, members could start by joining a hub, attending an event, or contributing to a shared discussion.
For those who didn’t find a hub that fit their interests, 2025 also opened the door to starting new hubs, allowing the community to shape where the ecosystem grows next.

In 2025, Deep Funding didn’t just fund ideas; it helped build them.
DEEP Lab emerged as a fast-moving AI and development lab focused on rapid prototyping, MVPs, and real deployments. It became the place where ideas could move quickly from concept to working product, shortening the distance between imagination and impact.
Since launching in June 2025, DEEP Lab has grown into an active, execution-focused environment powered by small, focused pods working in parallel.
By the end of the year, DEEP Lab had achieved:
Rather than long cycles and heavy overhead, DEEP Lab emphasized speed, learning, and iteration. Ideas entered the lab, were stress-tested quickly, and either evolved into usable tools or informed better next steps.
One clear example of DEEP Lab’s execution speed is the BGI Events App.
Built by a 4-person pod, the app went from idea to completed MVP in just a few weeks to support the Beneficial AGI Summit 2025. It enabled event coordination, attendee networking, real-time updates, AI-assisted engagement and now serves as a reusable foundation for future community-driven events.
This is what DEEP Lab is designed to do: small teams, fast cycles, and practical tools that solve real problems.
DEEP Lab also clarified a broader workflow for the ecosystem:
This model strengthens Deep Funding’s role not just as a grant program, but as a full innovation pipeline, supporting ideas at every stage of maturity.
Some of the most powerful moments of 2025 happened offline and in real time, when builders came together to ship under pressure.

This collaboration reflected what DF values most: practical support that directly helps builders deliver.
Not every milestone was a funding round or an event. Some of the most important progress came through open conversation.

These conversations helped make complex ideas accessible and reminded the community that progress is built step by step.
In 2025, Deep Funding also shared a clearer visual direction as the ecosystem evolved toward DEEP.
This wasn’t just design, it was about:
As we grew closer as a community, we wanted a way to carry that identity offline. DEEP Shop gives the community a way to show up and be seen.
It’s more than merch. It’s about identity, pride, and belonging. Whether at events or online, DEEP Shop lets people say, “I’m part of DEEP.”
You are DEEP. Wear it. Show it.
None of this happens without people.
